In case of installation of the infrared film Carbontec as under floor heating system, the minimum thickness of coating shall be 5 mm. You should also make sure that the floor covering can be used in the system of underfloor heating and its thermal resistance does not exceed Rλ = 0.15 m² K/Watt.

HOW IT WORKS?

1.Coating or plaster is applied on a wall or a ceiling.

2. 0.3 mm thick perforated material is installed on a wall, floor or ceiling. Due to woolly coating of material it is highly adhesive.

3. The wires from each band conducting to the transformer form a parallel connection and are connected via WAGO or other type of terminal blocks.

4. A temperature sensor is connected to a temperature controller.

5. One more plaster coat is put over the material and then — any kind of a wall or ceiling covering.

6. Carbontec® heating system is ready and works perfectly!

WHAT YOU NEED FOR CARBONTEC® INSTALLATION

The following additional materials are required for installation of the Carbontec heating system:

1. Toroidal transformer which steps down voltage from 220V to 24/36/42V

It is necessary to use a step-down transformer as the heating film Carbontec is a low-current material and it is therefore completely safe to use. The simplest and most reliable solution is the use of toroidal transformers. The transformers differ in terms of weight and size depending on the total switching power. Use the following formula to determine the required power of the transformer:

Рtransformer = Sfilm х Рsq.meters, where

  • Рtransformer – is the transformer power, W
  • Sfilm – is an area of the heating film, square meters
  • Ркв.метра – is the capacity of one square meter of the film,

2. Temperature controller

The temperature of the heated surface or temperature of the air in the room is regulated by the temperature controllers with remote temperature sensor (for underfloor heating systems) or a temperature sensor (in the case of a ceiling or wall heating system). Temperature controllers differ in their functionality. Our range includes both low-cost models with mechanical control, and multifunction models with digital control and possibility for programming the system operation algorithm depending on user preferences.

3. Equipment wires

Single core copper cable with cross-section of 2.5; 4.0 or 6.0 mm. 2 is used for connection of the heating bands of the Carbontec heating film. It is recommended to use PV-3 cable (flexible vinyl installation wire). It should be remembered that there is a limit on the length of the wire of a certain section without loss of capacity in the low-voltage systems. Maximum wire lengths for the heating system Carbontec are presented in the table:

Cable cross section, mm² 2,5 4,0 6,0
Max cable length, m 6 9,5 14

3. Terminal blocks

Terminal blocks are required for installation of the equipment wires on the current-carrying copper conductors of the heating film Carbontec. Due to their design, they provide hard and high-quality contact between the heating material and connecting wires. Two terminal blocks are required for each band of the heating material.

4. Insulating material 3M (only for CBW550-220-NI).

All places of cross-sections and installation of the terminals should be insulated with fiberglass insulation tape 3M for safety and sealing.
